What to define in your drawing
Start with the surfaces that touch other parts. Specify hole locations from a consistent datum, identify clearance or threaded holes, and describe any load or alignment requirements. A general shape is enough to start a conversation; critical fit needs dimensions.
Starting from a sketch?
Add the surrounding assembly, the available space, and what the part must hold or connect. These details are more useful than a polished rendering.
